Raj is a Non Executive Director and practices in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. She joined Family Law Group in 2009, and qualified as a Solicitor in 2001. Since that date, she has practised almost exclusively in Family Law.
Raj has been a member of the Law Society's Children Panel for many years. She is also a Resolution Accredited specialist in Private Law Children Act cases and in Domestic Abuse.
Raj represents children, parents, grandparents and intervenors in Care Proceedings. She has extensive experience representing clients in the High Court, County Court and Magistrates Court. Raj has also represented clients in the Court of Appeal.
Raj handles work in a variety of areas including cases involving neglect, substance and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse, non-accidental injury, emotional harm, fabricated and induced illness, child sex exploitation and trafficking.
Raj is committed to achieving excellence in her role and providing pragmatic and child focused advice to her clients. She has completed the vulnerable witness training which means that she is recognised as a specialist in the cross examination of vulnerable witnesses in sexual and physical abuse cases.
Raj has also been involved in high profile and reported cases. She is particularly skilled in representing parties in non-accidental injury cases. She has been involved in many cases involving injuries to children including bone fractures, bruising and sexual abuse.
Raj is also very experienced in representing parents and children with learning disabilities, and in representing clients in Forced Marriage Protection Order proceedings, Female Genital Mutilation Protection Order proceedings and Deprivation of Liberty Order proceedings.
Raj is very passionate about her work and has a reputation for fighting hard for her clients.There have been numerous cases where children have either remained at home during the life of the proceedings, or have been successfully rehabilitated home at the conclusion of a case.
Raj is a skilled and confident advocate and regularly represents parents and children at all hearings, including contested interim removal hearings, finding of fact hearings and final hearings in respect of care matters, private law matters and adoption.She also specialises in Private law proceedings, acting predominantly for children in complex cases involving parental alienation, implacable hostility and enforcement proceedings.
Raj is also able to assist both victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse in injunction proceedings.
Aside from work, Raj is a nature lover and enjoys the outdoors, particularly hiking, and trekking.
