Semra works as a Solicitor at the Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge office. She specialises in divorce, finances, children and domestic abuse matters.
Having always been interested in family law, shaped by experiences as a child, Semra studied at Anglia Ruskin University, achieving first-class honours in her LLB in 2017. During her time as a student, she volunteered extensively with a family law firm in Cambridge and at the University, gaining wide-ranging experience.
Semra initially joined the firm as a Paralegal within the Nottingham Civil Legal Advice team in November 2017. During this time, Semra assisted clients remotely in all aspects of private family law who qualified for Legal Aid. She then went to complete the Legal Practice Couse in 2018/19 achieving a high commendation and re-joined the firm at the Cambridge office in December 2019. Semra is particularly interested in Divorce and Finance matters, and Family Law Group with its multiple offices covering all family law specialisms is able to provide the training and guidance needed to excel as a lawyer in these fields.
Since working at Family Law Group Semra has built upon her knowledge and the foundational skills she learnt from studying, and utilised these to support and assist her clients. Semra is extremely passionate about supporting vulnerable clients, helping them to empower themselves and achieve their aims. Semra is dedicated to taking the time to listen to her clients, ensuring they feel heard and understood, whilst giving them clear legal advice. Semra has contacted and built strong links with local Domestic Violence Support Groups and Refuges, providing advice to their staff and clients, particularly in relation to eligibility for public funding and obtaining protective injunctions.
Outside of work Semra is passionate about travel and feels a country is best explored through its food. Recently she has taken up walking and participated in the Shine Night Walk to raise money for cancer research.
Semra speaks fluent Bulgarian.
