Family Law Group is a leading firm of family law Solicitors specialising in all areas of family law including divorce & separation child arrangements, care proceedings, matrimonial finance & property, cohabitation disputes, mediation, collaborative law, forced marriage and domestic abuse injunctions.

The firm is looking for a Costs Draftsperson to join the team in the Nottingham office.

You should be capable of prioritising work in such a way as to ensure that the firm’s caseload is progressed efficiently and so, excellent clerical, communication and administration skills will be required. The role involves other necessary tasks to aid in the progression and management of client cases.

Key requirements

·      A minimum of 1 year experience in drafting Legal Aid Bills;

·      Knowledge of working with Costs Master Software;

·      Knowledge of preparing claims for costs through the CCMS online portal;

·      Competent computer literacy skills;

·      Ability to work in pressurised and highly motivated team environment;

·      Able to demonstrate the ability of working on your own initiative with minimal supervision;

·      Ability to respond appropriately to rapid changes in working schedules and prioritise;

·      Excellent communication skills with individuals of all levels;

·      Committed and hardworking.

Within the role you will be expected to proactively support the Billing Team in their legal work.

Due to this role being varied and face paced it is imperative that you are experienced in areas including:-

·      Preparing fixed fee claims to be uploaded onto CCMS

·      Drafting exceptional Legal Aid bills to be assessed by the LAA;

·      Preparing High Cost Case plans;

·      Preparing bundles to accompany bills and submitting them to the LAA;

·      Liaising with Counsel’s Chambers in order to obtain fee notes for Counsel;

·      Liaising with experts in order to obtain possible missing disbursements;

·      Liaising with fee earners and addressing any concerns which may be identified whilst preparing a bill;

·      Uploading documents onto CCMS in a timely manner as per LAA requests;

·      Responding to any online queries sent by the LAS;

·      Providing advice to fee earners regarding current cost limitations;

·      Dealing with any rejected claims;

·      Preparing appeals for any reductions/rejections where appropriate;
