Dan joined Family Law Group in May 2011 and is the Head of the Milton Keynes Office. As a Director of the firm, Dan’s primary responsibilities include ensuring that the firm has a sound financial footing and through marketing that its branding and promotional activities align with its ethos and values. Additionally, Dan is responsible for recruitment and HR in the Southern offices and has played a major part in recent expansion and growth in those areas.
Dan studied Family Law extensively as part of his undergraduate & post graduate studies, achieving a 2.1 in his LLB in 2005 and completing the Legal Practice Course in 2007. He undertook his training with a specialist family law firm and qualified as a Solicitor in July 2010. Having joined Family Law Group in May 2011, he is now a Director and manages the Milton Keynes office.
Dan is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in domestic abuse and advocacy (Private Law Children).
Having become a specialist in all areas of Family Law, his main area of focus is on children matters and care proceedings. Dan has been involved in a number of notable cases, which have included representing parents and children in cases involving alleged serious non-accidental injury such as shaken baby syndrome, factitious illness and baby fatalities. He has been involved in many cases where children have either remained or have been successfully returned to their parents’ care.
Dan works closely with a number of barristers and experts whom specialise in this complex area of law. As a result, he is able to quickly identify the salient issues in any particular case, and instruct the right people to assist in achieving the best possible outcome for his clients.
In addition to his work in relation to children, he is passionate about ensuring the protection of victims of domestic abuse and is a committee member on the local Women’s Aid board, runs a busy advice surgery for a domestic abuse charity, and also provides ongoing support to a number of refuges in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire.
Being a skilled advocate means that Dan can undertake all hearings from first appointments to final hearings, and often appears in Courts across the county. This is advantageous to his clients as they have the confidence that he has dealt with all aspects of their case.
Outside of work, Dan spends time with his wife, young son and daughter. When time allows, he follows the fortunes of both Aston Villa and MK Dons. He is regularly involved in charity work through his involvement with the charity linked to the MK Dons, the MK Dons SET.
